Does anyone know if that is right? That doesnt seem to be right, but I read that today from a pretty reliable source. Is it against the law to assert our constitutional right to assembly at jailhouses or military bases? Thanks.

On the military base? Yes, they can prevent that.... Near the military base? Protest all you want.

I've never heard of prohibiting jail protests. There has been a protests, 24 hours a day, for years right across the street from The White House in Lafayette Park. If you can protest there, I would think you can protest most anywhere.

Check your state laws and city ordinances. The Government won't let you on a military post to protest but you should be able to do it outside the base. As long as you follow the law (i.e. don't block the streets and sidewalks, have any required permits, don't threaten or assault people, etc.) you should be fine.

People protest outside of prisons every time we execute some dirt bag. You obviously can't protest in the middle of the exercise yard at the State Pen but can do it outside.

They can force you off the government property, but if you are across the street, for example, they cannot do anything to you. As far as military bases, you dont stand a chance of getting on the base. If you are caught tresspassing onto a military installation, they most likely have the right to shoot and kill you.

Jail houses and military bases are not places to protest because these are critical areas concerning security.
