I played spyro once, but I don't remember if it had a lot of reading. A platform game seems to be best, but it has to be something that voices the instructions, and isn't overly confusing. I'm not willing to pay more than $25.00. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Spyro is great! I love it
:]
It's been awhile since I played but It's fun maneuvering the dragon and doing all the activities.
My 7 year old brother loves it, and he has played it for PS1 and Gameboy Advance (SP)

I think they voice the instructions too, depending on the game, as well as have it on the screen to read

The Spyro games are great for kids. I enjoyed playing the Original Spyro games when they first were out on the PS1 and I've just been watching my little 17 year old sister replay the games this summer and last summer.

The Spyro games don't have that many instructions. The actions in Spyro are pretty simple, all you do in the game is jump, spit fire, glide, run, and do a headbutt. The controls are very easy and the game doesn't require reading really. The Spyro games are really fun to play.

The Spyro games are great for kids. They're not very difficult to play or beat, and provide a lot of areas for kids to explore with Spyro.
