A good friend of mine is a junior and she has a big crush on a freshman. Do you think it is a good idea for her to act on this feeling and ask him out? Do you think she would be "taking away" from his high school experience? I'm debating whether or not to tell her if acting on this feeling is a good or bad decision.

I would appreciate some pros and cons. Thanks!

It really depends on the two individuals you are talking about. Is he mature for his age? Because if he is not, she will probably have to deal with some unnecessary garbage. If they like each other and he's got a good head on his shoulders, it is probably cool. There are a number of things to consider but I think his maturity (since he is a guy and younger) dictates the pros and cons.

There are high school experiences that are "necessary," like study habits and such as well as taking on certain responsibilities. However there are also optional high school experiences. Dating is one of them.

It is her own decision whether or not to ask him out. There is no wrong or right in this case. Besides, as long as she doesn't overly obsess with him, then he should be able to go out with her as well as go through the normal high school experience just as everyone else.

But basically, it's an optional experience.
