This is a very complicated question.
1. It seems to me that hell is a total and complete separation from God, with the knowledge of his complete person. The more I get to know God, the more I can see how devastating it would be to be separated from the one who created me.
2. I'm not sure about the people who have never heard of Jesus, but I do trust God to have worked that out. I have been exposed to the Gospel so I am responsible for the knowledge of Jesus.
3. All people fall short of being good enough to be in God's presence. So the "how much, and "what types" of sin being committed does not really factor into going to heaven or not.
4. All Christians will have to stand in judgment from God for their actions, it just won't involve hell.
5. But most of all, the important thing to know is that being a true follower of Christ does not mean following a lot of man made rules. It is about submitting our lives to a Savior who loves us very much and letting Him guide our lives in the path he would have us walk. This is a difficult journey to sustain, so there is a lot of stumbling along the way, but God loves us and always directs us back to the path we should be walking if we are truly seeking a relationship with him.

The Christians love their mythology. It is useful only when they get themselves into some sort of trouble. Then it's all about being saved. Their concept is no one gets to heaven without believing in JC. That leaves allot of people out of their particular heaven. So if you are good or bad and don't identify with their view you are going to hell...end of story. Is that the most arrogant thinking or what?

Rom 2:11-16
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
(KJV)
God is Just. Every man has a chance to properly relate to God and find Salvation. In Acts Cornelius had not heard of Jesus, but he was a righteous man. So God sent Him a preacher of the Gospel.
This is what Missions has always been about. The good news for you is that contrary to Catholic History, the gospel has been freely preached throughout the world since the 1st Century.
You have some wonderful questions. I hope that you will take the time to personally study the Bible with some mature loving Chrisitians who can tell you in detail about Jesus Christ and why He came to Save you from your Sins, the Wrath of God, and your destiny to burn in Hell for Eternity.
God is merciful and ready to pardon you, but you must accept the death of Jesus Christ as a sacrifice for your sins personally, acknowledge your sinfullness before the Holy God of Heaven, and ask Him for forgiveness in prayer in the name of Jesus.

I know many wonderful people and couples such as you have described, I love them and care for them, but I know if they died today they will go to Hell, but if they are still alive when Jesus returns for His Followers, they will be left here on Earth to suffer through The Great Tribulation, because they did not ask Jesus Christ to be their Personal Lord and Savior. They all know who Jesus is, but they reject Him. I continue to love them and pray for them.
But sadly, when all is said and done, it IS their choice.
Jesus Christ himself promises that ALL will have the chance to know, hear, or learn of Him. Everyone will have the opportunity to accept or reject Jesus. He says, "None will have an excuse."
Jesus also says that many who SAY they know Him and call Him Lord, will either be left behind, because they did not really ask Jesus Christ into their hearts and lives and the Bible says that there will be Christians who will be "caught up" with the rest of Christians, but their coattails will be on fire. Salvation through Jesus Christ is the ONLY thing that keeps them from remaining here on Earth, or spending eternity in The Lake Of Fire.
Read Revelation, Ezekiel, Thessalonians, Daniel, & Isaiah in the KJV Holy Bible if you want to read and understand what Hell and The Lake Of Fire are like. Hell and the Lake Of Fire was created by Almighty God for Satan and his army of demons. It was NEVER meant for mankind.
But Almighty God and Jesus Christ want a personal one-on-one relationship with each human being. They gave all mankind freewill CHOICE, because they want us to CHOOSE them and because we love them and trust them. Jesus Christ willingly gave His life to insure that mankind whom Almighty God loves WOULD have a choice.
Those who WILLINGLY reject, dismiss, ignore, or curse Almighty God and Jesus Christ have CHOSEN Hell. Almighty God nor Jesus Christ sends anyone to Hell...people choose it.

Christians who live like the devil will not make it into heaven in the end unless they repent and turn from their evil ways. God is willing to forgive any sin but if you are going to sin on purpose because you know God will forgive you that is just wrong and eventually you will stop asking God to forgive you.
It is not our goodness that saves us but it is the goodness of God. God sent Jesus to die for our sins because He loves us so much.

You are right. There are a lot of good people out there who never even get the chance to hear about Christ. Luckily they will not go to Hell simply because of this fact. God is fair and will judge us according to the knowledge which we are given.
He will also provide a way for those who died without receiving a knowledge of Christ to hear about Him and to repent. In the Bible it talks about Christ teaching (after He had died) those who had already died and were in the spirit world.

don't care about people talkin' bullshit. It's not about accepting Jesus. It's about living your life like he told it. Good people won't go to hell, but if they will then I'm not afraid to follow them!

nobody in this world gets to decide who gets to heaven or to h'ell. why not leave it to Him to make that decision? we worry so much about this that we can forget God is watching what we are doing right now - today.
He wants our hearts and watches our motives. where you stand on a sunday morning is so irrelevant. i believe that many people don't know Him because they've never been formally introduced, but that we all "know" Him on some unconscious level...

Psalm 14:1; ' ...Ps 14:1 The fool says in his heart, 'there is no God.' They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.'
Romans 1:19,20; ' ... since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.'

assuming a god exists, how the heck are we supposed to know whether there's a heaven or not? or whether he wants good people in heaven or not?
this question is just basically another precursor creating another god, another heaven.
