If heaven is supposed to be a blissful place how do they deal with the grief one would feel about their loved ones being tortured for eternity? Would you become ignorant of ever loving these people or would you become heartless and not compassionate? Which is it? Stupid or heartless?

Ohhhh...I've asked this question before....you know what I'm told? God will erase their loved ones from their minds. How comforting...

It's "stupid" of course..... Only in total ignorance can their be bliss.... but just as stupid are the answers given to questions like this one.

Why do we, atheists, entertain the imaginary notions of theists by asking them to fathom "what god would be like" or "what heaven will offer" or any number of other silly questions that only give them opportunities to use their ability to dream up yet another silly and dishonest answer? It's like asking a thief to steel, isn't it.?

Although I understand that there some humorous curiosities to be satisfied by asking for the dribble a God-believer might come up with when asked about "heaven" and that there is an entertainment value in asking a baited question about how God thinks, it does our believer-friends no good when we ask them for such wild guesses. We may get a good laugh out of it but they only get deeper into the debt of their delusions.

Rather than asking such things as this, I wonder if we could dig deeper and ask how they feel as believers when they "invent" the answers to things that aren't known and can't possibly be known, ever.

For example: How does it feel, God-believer, when you have no assurance that what you are answering is true? Do you feel comfortable with your wild guesses...or do you often feel like a foolish lier?

I don't believe in a place of eternal torment. I believe they will be destroyed in the lake of fire. (this is the second death)

Yes, I will mourn. I already mourn for a few that I am pretty sure didn't make it. The only reason we will be able to go on and enjoy life with Jesus in His kingdom is if they are destroyed, not punished forever. There is plenty of Biblical evidence to support destruction versus Eternal Torment. ( I believe Eternal Torment was created with small "evidences" in the scripture by Churches who wanted to scare people into the pews)

Good question. It's almost impossible to give a valid answer. Like you said, you're either admitting that free-will is taken in heaven and you become a mindless drone, or you're admitting that you're a selfish ***hole that only cares about a reward.

This is why God must wipe the tears away.

Rev 21:3-4
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
(KJV)

well i do not believe in heaven or hell . only the summer lands where your spirit goes to meet the great mother . and you are given the choice to return to finish your lessons or go to the summerlands to rest before return.when all your carmic lessons have been learned you will ascend to the next level of concious being.

I mourn everything. Whether it a part of my world or not. If it is within earshot of me, that's enough. I have no family only 1 son. I pray for everyone. I am not ignorant. Just hopeful.

Im not sure if im right, but I think you dont know your family in heaven. When you "see them" you have a connection but dont realize its your family or something like that.

That is a very good question.

Trust in God. God is love. I'm sure that he has this one sorted out. even if we don't.
