Now that Hanukkah is over, I have candle wax all over my silver plated menorah. How do I clean it so it looks nice for next year? I have an old one that I was using and it got gross because I didn't know how to clean it well, and so I bought a new one. I don't want the same thing to happen to this one.

If your hottest tapwater isn't hot enough to melt the wax, boil a teakettle full of water, then pour it over the menorah, one branch at a time, until the wax is soft enough to remove. Keep doing this until you have removed all the clumps of wax. While the menorah is still warm, polish it with a soft cloth to remove the rest of the wax and any droplets of water, which will otherwise leave spots that could ruin your silverplate.

A great way to clean menorahs is to boil a big pot of water and stick the menorah in it. This will melt the wax off of the menorah and make it shine. Just make sure to dump the waxy water somewhere where it will not make a mess. And clean the pot soon after you dump it, as it will be easier because the wax will still be hot. If you don't want to get your pot dirty you can just pour the hot water over the menorah, but this will take more time and more water.
