isn't that like blind leading the blind that will fall down the "ditch" or something?

2007-12-11 17:10:12 · 16 answers · asked by Ťango 3 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

well, isn't that dangerous? so why do so many people who claim they have the "truth" if they only base their "truth" on their mere speculation of the verses in the Bible?

I must put "what if" to have the evenagelists consider that they can misunderstand a lot of things in the Bible just like everybody else because they are not fallible.

the gnostic christian, and how can you be so sure, protestants along with the newer ones who deny they are protestants, who are basically an offshoot of Catholicism do have the "truth"?

You're right, it is dangerous...the majority are misunderstanding.

Jesus said, "Let them be. Blind guides is what they are. If, then, a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit."
Mat. 15:14

One thing that I feel it is important to understand is that for every religious person, (for the sake of argument lets say christian,) there is a different belief system. No two people can have the same idea of God, no matter how similar they seem to be.

The problem is that the Bible teaches that there is 'One God' when there are as many Gods as there are believers on the face of the planet. Deities are always viewed through the filter of the psyche of the person viewing them. How can every believer of the 'same God' have the 'same God' when no one knows what he actually looks, sounds, or feels like, or what he looks, sounds and feels like to everyone else?

How do you know you're talking to the 'real' God?

Either there is one God that encompasses all Gods, Christian or otherwise, or there is no God. Or maybe it is neither. Or maybe it is both.

Yeah, now I am just going Zen on you all.

P.S. The question you asked is one of the many that will lead you to liberation from the ridiculous Christian doctrine. It did me.

That's correct. That's what many people do, even such people as Billy Graham.
A perfect example: The bible says that there will be only one true priest and he will not appear until the last days. There will be only one true priest. Only one. How many people claim to be a true priest? Besides Billy Graham, how many more claims to be a true priest. Only one true preist will appear upon the earth. That will not be God. Which means that one true prist will not be Jesus Christ, since he was God. The bible says the only true priest will not be God, Jesus Christ. Then who will he be?
Anyway, you're thinking correctly.

Look at why Paul praised the Bereans (Acts 17). He said that they took what he said and tested it against scripture. I don't care what anyone else says, I only care what the Bible teaches.. If my friend says it, if my professor says it, if my pastor says it. If the Bible doesn't say it then it doesn't matter. I want to know God's thoughts. That is why reading the Bible is so important so that you can test what is being taught.

not withstanding but the Bible has been re written so many times especially by Guttenburgh and king James [ version named for him ] and being passed by mouth and old Hebrew in which there is no modern translation for some words . the Bible is at best an interpetation by man , and if it were written today it would be banned for content.

it's still up to the listener to read and study The Holy Scriptures for his/herself in order to recieve their own Benefit and undestanding.

I could relate to you stories of The Holy Scriptures and interpret it according to what I can Comprehend, But it's still your duty to use your own faculties of hearing, seeing and understanding.

If you apply God's wisdom to your everyday life He'll eventually let you know if you're going the right way or leading people astray.

I don't always agree with what The preacher interprets but I still commend him for his Wisdom.

Quite right. Many Church leaders are not Christians, don't know the Scriptures, nor their level of ignorance and will not be corrected.

Where do you think the Catholic religion came from?

Edit:

Oh, yes, I agree.... I was just trying to be funny and serious at the same time. The fact that those other religions are subsequently "factions" of Catholicism makes it a give-in that they would fall under the same category.
