The Concept of God, with a capital "G" implies an almithy Supreme being who is like the god of other lower gods. In other words, he is like a father to a family in a much superior way. Therefore he should have tremendous amount of Power to bring about peace or war at will!
Hence he is Peaceful, as he does not need to depend on others to create or destroy peace! The fact that people cannot see him as peaceful, does not cancell the fact that He is. It is just the ignorance of the people. But it is also true that God is NOT necessarily always peaceful, because he sometimes initiates War in order to maintain or create peace where it is lacking! Why? Because a Father of his calibre must have a vast amount of LOVE for his juniors or children. And You cannot separate his LOVE from his JUSTICE. See? He has to administer JUSTICE- sometimes in the form of WAR- in order to keep the LOVE and PEACE accross His universe. A neglect of his Justice means an abandonment of his children to the wrath of some of the lower, ignorant and wicked people among mankind and the gods!
Let me know if that answers it! Thank you.

Starting with your initial premise, it is false. Judiasm was the first "Western Religion" to teach that God expected mankind to live by a moral code. However, once the Jews made two countries (Israel and Judea), Prophets developed the concept of a "me-she-ach", one who would rise from the depths of despair and restore the Jews to a virtuous life. It wasn't clear if this would be a spiritual or secular figure, and with Christianity, a spiritual figure developed.

However, the failure of Christ to do the "messiah" thing in his life, led to the concept that he would return again "at the end of days" to do it once and for all. Early Christianity had alot of competition, not only from the other popular religions of the day, but from groups within who argued the theology of Christ as being God or the son of God or being always devine, or only after he was crucified, etc. However, with the help of the good Emperor Constantine, it solidified its position and became the main religion of the Roman Empire.

Almost independent of all this, Mohammed became the self-proclaimed prophet of Allah, and wrote down inspired thoughts in the Koran (or whatever way it is spelled). He thought the Jewish religion was nice, but the Jews didn't particularly like him. He thought Christ was a good preacher, but probably couldn't fathom all the theological mumbo-jumbo about divinity, Trinity and the rest. He was also a fair military strategist, and when he found people resisting his ideas, he simply destroyed their settlements. His successors succeeded in destroying the Parthian Empire (modern day Iran) to the East, overrunning the Mid-East, Northern Africa, and then Spain. Europe had enough problems of itself to take all this seriously, and to the East, the remnents of the Roman Empire stopped the advance of Islam into the Balkans. In the west, an army of the Franks, led by the main minister to the King, named Carollus Martellus (Charles Martel), stopped their advance into France, and they retired across the Pyrennes. In areas ruled by Islam, Christians and Jews were tolerated as long as they paid extra taxes, and for that time, that was toleration.

Unfortunately, in the mid-11th Century, more militant Mulsim tribes from the East of modern Turkey, overran most of the mid-East. The co-existance between Islam and Christian travelers to the holy sites in Jerusalem ( a tourist trap even them) was upset.

At the same time, the Catholic Church had its problems. First, the Eastern Church had split off in 1054. Next, the initial stage for the spiritual authority of the Pope vs. the secular authority of the German Emperor was underway. In 1096, Pope Urban VII preached throughout France of that time that Christians in Europe should unite, form an army, and conquer the Holy Land. The Pope thought the Church would become stronger with this.

As luck would have it, some people jumped the gun and formed their own privite Army and crossed into Germany. There, they found, of all things, the Jews living happily in the Rhine Valley. If the Muslims were awful, certainly the people who had killed Jesus shouldn't be having such a great time. So they started killing Jews and making a general nuisance of themselves. When they reached the Roman Empire in Constantinople, the Emperor was so fed up with them that he shipped them out of town, where they were cut to ribbons by the local Muslim rulers.

This disturbed the folks back in Europe. Apparently, the Muslim would not roll over and let the Christians conquer the Holy Land. So they organized a real Army led by real Leaders, and they set out on the First Crusade. The previous episode with the Christians led the Muslim ruler to underestimate the First Crusade, and they were divided themselves. To everyone's surprise, they captured Jerusalem in 1099, and set about killing everyone they could lay their hands on. Unfortuantely most of these people were Jews and local Christians.

Well,I could go on and on, but the point is that the Muslims were not born just to be against Jesus. People actually were pretty peaceful for close to 300 years. The peace was broken mainly by the Christians.

Jesus has been around forever too, but, due to apostasy, pride or ignorance, many don't know it. In fact, this world was created by him under the direction of our Heavenly Father. Adam and Eve were the first christians on this earth, and the gospel was taught to them in its fulness. Many of his descendants were not wise in using their agency, then lost the knowledge given to their parents. The gospel was brought several times through God's true prophets such Noah, Enoch, Abraham and others, till Jesus himself came to this mortality, like all of us, and restored the sacred teachings. Then, after his death and resurrection ascended to heaven; a couple of centuries after that, a great apostasy again took place, generating hundreds of different organizations teaching false doctrine and confusing doctrine about the nature of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. The needed knowledge has finally been restored again for the last time, in order to prepare us all for the Milennium, when Jesus will rule this earth in person, in a theocratic regime. There is no peace for the wicked ones ! So, because they don't have it for themselves, they enjoy themselves in taking the peace of
anyone in their way. "Hurting people are delighted in hurting others". If you have doubt about turn on to the daily TV or Internet news. The mankind needs a change of heart that only God can give, if we accept to live by the true teachings of Jesus Christ.

There were thousands of religions prior to Christianity, and thousands since. Christianity is not unique in any way. The only reason it is prominent today is because in 325 CE, Constantine made it the official religion of Rome.

Because some view a "god" as a being that needs to be experienced by all. Peace can't be found until all believe in said "god."

Because the good has no peace with evil. It is God that started the enmity between.

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Jesus Himself predicted that people would hate His disciples because of Him. Eventually the Antichrist will come to power and then there really will be trouble! Things will get worse before they get better. But when Jesus returns to rule and reign, everything will be set right.
