Ok I'm fairly new to the HD scene, recently I bought a 720p lcd with multiple jacks. Now what I want to know is a scale from best to worst connections and what the quality is for the connections. HDMI/DVI, component, VGA, and s-video. Any help would be great so I don't wase money on expensive cables.

Here's the list, best to worst.

1. HDMI / DVI
2. Component (5 jacks of different colors)
3. S-Video
4. Composite (also known as RCA or AV)
5. Coax cable

Numbers 1 and 2 will carry an HD signal that your TV can display.

You don't need $100+ cables either. Any name brand cable in an appropriate length will be just fine.

HDMI cables are best. DVI (digital video interface) is actually part of an HDMI cable. The DVI to HDMI cable will give you the best sound and picture possible with your new HDTV. VGA is used mostly for computers and does not support audio. S-Video only produces signals of 480p and would be your last choice.

To find a great deal on any cable, especially the DVI to HDMI go to http://www.monoprice.com

They have excellent cables at a great price.
