I think that when people end there answers and say Good Luck or God Bless, it is because they have really given some thought to their answers and they want to follow that with a blessing of some sort. It is like the little added feeling from them. Anyway I'll be different and say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

i've only done it a hand full of times. if i think the asker is in a tough situation and maybe there's no right or wrong answer, or the solution is difficult, i'll say good luck. if the problem is something they did or a situation they created, i don't really wish them good luck - they got into the mess and they can get out of it themselves. don't mean that to be rude, but if you cheat on your spouse, you don't need luck or a blessing, you need better judgment and a good divorce attorney.

I just assume that it is a person's way of trying to make their answer seem more personal and friendly. Since we are faceless, nameless answerers, it makes me think that someone sincerely wants to help me with my question. The problem I have is with the people who feel it their duty to make a person feel small or stupid for asking a question. After all, they don't HAVE to answer, they can simply move on.
