If so, she seems not a good one.

Interestingly, Jehovah's Witnesses' own statistics count about 1 million active Witnesses in the United States, but about 2 million associate themselves by meeting attendance. Secular surveys generally note that about 1% (or 3 million) Americans identify themselves with Jehovah's Witnesses. In summary:
...1 million practice
...2 million attend
...3 million identify

Clearly, there are many who identify themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses while having little or no formal connection with the religion. This questioner is to be commended for seeking information about Jehovah's Witness beliefs, but should be cautioned that such information may be of limited use in understanding a family which is only tangentially committed to the faith.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe the bible to teach that staying late at dance parties or avoiding congregation meetings is a "serious sin". However, a baptized Christian who practiced drunkenness or gambling does commit "serious sin" such as could result in disfellowshipping.

Well, a number of things could be happening. She could just be going through a spiritually weak time. Just because she might not be doing right doesn't mean she's not worried about them.

There is nothing wrong, specifically, with going to parties, or drinking, though as Christians, we do believe in moderation.

If you are worried about her you should ask. It could be that moving to the US, came as a bit of a shock to her system, kind of a Bright Lights thing.

Why would she get mad when her children do not go to church (the K/Hall, I presume)? Because she knows what's good for them.

Of course, a person just saying they are JW does not make them one. Dance parties and drinking (in moderation) are fine. Casinos and drunkenness are a definite no-no.

Talk to her.

Perhaps she took a great interest and began a Bible Study with one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Having a regular study does not make you a witness, but draws you closer to God and explains how to live according to what is pleasing in his eyes. Her actions as described by you would suggest that she still needs more spiritual guidance.

Anyone can claim to be. But she is not living her life in harmony with God's requirements. So, she is not conducting herself in the acceptable manner of a JW.

She sure isn't acting like one. But I cannot judge her.
