No. My grandmother is very sensitive about Christmas time ever since we lost my cousins in 1998. She can't bring herself to put up a tree anymore. Since I live with her currently (long story), I won't be having a tree this year. I haven't for years.

Well, the Christmas tree is part of a series of Pagan rituals from before the time of Christ that were so pervasive, they had to be assimilated in order to covert the locals in the countries they were practiced. So it should be no surprise that these pernicious little practices are used by secular celebrants to this day (including me)- they have nothing to do with major religions per se, they are just symbols of Winter Solstice.
Same goes for Bunnies and Eggs - those are Spring Equinox Symbols - so they belong to the greater populace.

No, that is such a wasteful process. Using a 7-10 year-old tree for a few weeks of decoration is silly.

The lights represent the return of the sun, 12/25 used to be the Winter Solstice/shortest day of the year. Now it's 12/21-it's based on an astronomical event so, regardless of my belief, I think it's pretty and technically, it's based on scientific observation, so I really see no harm in anyone doing so. There are a few that might need to educate themselves on what they're doing. :-)

Yeah, but there's no angel on top. I love Christmas; snow and family and friends and presents and fireplaces and such. The most wonderful time of the year, some people call it.

can a heathen answer?

We have a small artificial tree outside (14 cats - Freya is my Goddess, after all - tree has to be outside - LOL). We'll have the Yule log, the wreath, cider, toasting, feasting, decorations, lights - all of the pagan traditions!

I don't need to practice, I know what I'm doing when I put up my tree and decorate it. I practiced when I lived with my parents, now that I'm on my own, I'm a professional.

I usually am not home for summerfest but next year
could be a big tree and bbq by the pool in my new house.

Mine is a 3 foot tree with gold tinsel and red ornaments, clear lights. It looks good on my endtable. There is no angel on top, only a star representing that comet.

not a real tree but I do have lights up outside and stuff. Christmas is really easy to do without mentioning Jesus.
