No, because I think the older Romans would have been shorter. They did not live as long back then, and were much shorter also. Maybe try future Romans .o)
I will bet that if you change the font size from 10 to 12 to 16 to 20 it will get respectively bigger without having to wait and see if the futre Romans are indeed bigger ;o)

Just go one point larger (like from 10 to 11).
You would be better off replacing some short words with longer ones to get the paragraphs to just spill over to another line with the last word or two on it.
Also scrunch in the margins by another quarter inch to make each line shorter. Then add a speck to the top and bottom margins.
Raise the font size in the heading. Add a footer with a page number on each page.

You will still get burned on the word count. Try elaborating on what you already have.
That said, I find that New Century Schoolbook looks similar to Times New Roman, but even for the same point size it looks bigger and easier to read.

Your teacher will be able to tell, even if it is similar. Believe me, they've looked at papers for most of their life. In my opinion it is better to have a shorter paper but have it be in the proper format than to make it look like you were messing with the margins.
Try to address the other side of the argument more fully or try to come up with modern day consequences of the issue.
Best of luck.

all you have to do is increase the font size. that option is beside the box where you select your font. times new roman is an easy to read one no matter what size you go with unless you get it wayyyyyyyyyyy to small. good luck and happy holidays!

mess with margins, expand the size of periods, expand font size, add a heading, put some words in bold, and write some more!

can't you just bump the size of the text up. Like from 10 pt to 14 pt?

You could try the tricks above, or you could walk away from your paper for 10 minutes, come back, read over it, and I bet you will find at least one area you can expand on.
