Is your family a blended family? Are your mom and dad the exact same color and from the exact same race? If one of your parents is lighter skinned and one darker skinned, then you may end up anywhere in between. Bottom line - don't worry that you're not exactly the same as everyone in your family. God made you special to be just the color you are and trying to change that will only make you frustrated. If you are a person of color as your avatar suggests, then you have to know there are so many colors that fit into that spectrum, no two people are going to look exactly the same. Be happy with your caramel complexion - that shade is one of my favorites - it's like cafe latte and very continental. Think well of yourself just the way you are and embrace your natural beauty!

There are chemical treatments that bleach the skin, but they are hard on your skin, they don't necessarily produce an even color, and you might end up looking like Micheal Jackson. The primary bleaching agent in over-the-counter products is hydroquinone. There are also very expensive laser treatments you can get from a dermatologist, but your have to be very wealthy to afford them.

my family is lily white, and i am a dark olive. But you know, your family probably doesn't think your complextion is nearly as big of a deal as you do, and who knows, maybe one of your siblings is envious of your skin color. You are who you are and putting a bunch of chemicals on your skin is more likely to detract from your beauty than add to it. Instead of bleaching your skin, when you are feeling self-conscious about your complexion, just joke about it instead, and your family will make you feel better by responding to your joke.

Holidays and family can put a lot of stress on people. I'd like to say to "lighten up" but thats a really bad pun.
