hbuckmeister- may you never have need for assistance... from anyone. If this is your atitude for those around you in the rest of your life, I hope they have more compassion than you've shown in your answer- you'll need it.

Merry Christmas~

Your answer IS offensive, but I choose not to waste my time trying to open your eyes.

Family of 7, $600 per month.

I think it's fine that you are curious, but to the people who are judgemental...

Yes, I can afford a computer and the internet because I am a student and my grants paid for it.

You don't know about everybody's situation, so maybe you shouldn't judge.

Getting food stamps, how much and when and why all depends on what State you live in.
The food stamp program is relatively augmented by whatever State you reside.
I am a disabled citizen on SSI and housing assistance and I get $78 a month.
Each person is different.
Just go to your public welfare office.
Ask for the form to fill out for food stamps.
Fill it out...leave nothing blank. If you don't know a answer to a question just put N/A for Not Applicable.
If you are married and your husband works most likely you will not qualifty for food stamps, but with having childern that may change their decision. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS TO ALL THE TRUTH! Lying on a government document could hinder you from getting any services from many different agency's for the rest of your life...and maybe even fined or prosecuted for fraud.
It can't hurt to fill out a little bit of paper work.
If you have any question about an item on the Food Stamp paper work...Please feel fre to use this venue to ask questions.
Best of luck to you and Merry Christmas.
L.

Hi.. i could afford a computer, internet, a car, and a home for years and years.. and then one day i was in a terrible accident.. fortunately, i'm here over 2 years later, still have the computer and internet, no car and NO HOME! i lost everything. and it was not because of anything i caused... i wasn't lazy... raised two kids..

I am on social security and don't receive much money a month; however working toward recovery and work in hopefully two more years... i paid taxes all my natural adult life, and thankfully was eligible for social security - $600 a mo..

with this i got food stamps $56 a month... and i couldn't find a place to rent because i have a dog. i've had a dog for 6 years (4 years before the accident). i lost everything else, and if i have to pay for dog food with my social security, i will! i refuse to lose my dog, too.

so i'm renting a room (fortunately it's a very nice, large room) from a friend and have use of her kitchen and facilities for now. after rent i have $300 a month to live on...i contribute to paper towels, laundry soap, household cleaning products, gas for her car because she takes me places, and etc. by the time it's all said and done, i'm not living on easy street financially... but i'm here, and the government has been kind enough to help me through this temporary setback in my lfe.

i have internet WHY? because my friend was kind enough to hook me up. i still have my old computer from 6 yrs ago....

had to give up my car, home and many of my posessions to pay off some medical bills, and thankfully, the state picked up most of the rest.

so that's why i'm on government aid...

don't judge a book by its cover, or a person because they receive help... i will bet you that a great majority of people who get help were at one time tax paying citizens, or are working toward bettering themselves.

Family of four in CA $530/month. We too can afford the internet thanks to financial aid which isn't taken into account as far as your income is concerned. Additionally my husband does work a job as a 3- hr. clerk at an elementary school. If we were unemployed, I'm sure it would be more.

$298 per month. Unemployed with a child while going to college.

Until I forgot to turn in a verification form and they cut me off. Had to re-apply and now I wait to get an interview.
