As far as I know, I have never eaten Velveeta cheese. I certainly have never bought any. Everything people seem to do with it is easy enough to do with real cheese and I've never been curious about it. Is that strange? Should I try it? Is there a benefit to it? I am not being snobbish. I eat Spam and I love it. I can make ketchup but Heinz is so good I don't bother. I sometimes chose Miracle Whip over mayonnaise. I drinks Coke and Old Milwaukee beer. I just don't understand Velveeta. Am I wrong?

Velveeta is pretty gross.
I only like it if it has like a hundred other things added to it (as a dip)

Nope you are not wrong, but you probably have eaten it or a processed cheese like it.

Most restaurant nachos are Velveeta cheese,
Most restaurant cheese soups are Velveeta based.
Same for cheese sauce on broccoli

It makes a very smooth sauce/soup but you are correct other "real" cheese works wells also...

Velveeta is relatively cheap compared to "real" cheese that is why it is so popular.

If you eat Spam, you should have no problam with Velveeta. I ate it a lot as a kid. Whether you like it or not is a matter of taste. If I remember correctly Velveeta and Cheez-Wiz taste about the same.

Velveeta may not be the greatest for you,but it does make a great dip for corn chips..All you have to do is add salsa to it and melt it in the microwave. You could add a bit of cream cheese as well if youd like.

Velveeta is to cheese as sausage is to filet mignon

I don't think i really want to read the label on that stuff. I will say in its defense though, that it melts quick and easy and stays soft if you keep it on a low even heat and keep stirring it. It doesn't solidify like regular cheeses.
I am extremely pleased that they have come out with the 2 percent milk version. That is as far on the labeling as I wanted to read.
I do have a great recipe that my kids love and request often. Brown one pound of ground meat, stir in one packet of taco seasoning, along with whatever water is on the package directions, slice and add one pound of velveeta till it's mixed in good and serve with tortilla chips. Good stuff!

I don't think you are missing anything. But...I can say that because I don't like cheese. . .
