I'm watching George Lopez, and right before they played some more commercials, he said "closed captioning for George Lopez provided by ..." and then played a Ferrero Rocher commercial.

I hear this all the time on many different TV shows. What is closed captioning?

it is where the tv will show the words the people speak on the tv screen.

a sponser pays for the typing to be with the show. The closed captioning button is for deaf/hearing imparred, people learning a new language... and for kids having trouble with reading and spelling.

Hope that helps... there is a closed caption button on the menu of your tv... and almost all dvds have that as an option weith different lang on dvd players and dics

if you pick "close captioning" there will be subtitles. If you choose "any" there may or may not be subtitles.

basicly they are subtitles for the Hearing Impaired on tv-it really comes in handy sometimes when shows have bad sound or if like me you do have some minor hearing loss
