YES, there is protocol in these incidents. And this officer should know this. First thing is CAMPUS police are as a rule STATE Police officers. They fall under a special unit. The only area they are under is the campus as far as patrol. BUT either way if an accident is reported as in a hit and run the officer as a rule inspects the reporters vehicle for damages. As if there is no damage where is the hit and run. IF there is damage then he would inspect the suspect vehicle (IF there is one) IF there is no damage to the suspect vehicle then there either was NO hit and run or the suspect vehicle was NOT involved. It ALL comes down to EVIDENCE. NO evidence then there is NO CASE and this officer should know this. He sounds like a rookie. If I were you, I'd go into the campus police headquarters and ask to speak with the commander and explain this to him/her. Ask that he/she inspect your vehicle so you can backup / prove your situation. Good Luck. OH, BTW, if it can be shown that she has lied, SHE can be charged with FILING A FALSE Police report. THIS is a FELONY in most states. Again Good Luck.

This is why we have courts; to sort out different versions of events. Having an statement in a police report that you disagree with is something that will have to be considered by the judge and jury (if any) Having an obviously incorrect statement does not justify throwing the whole thing out but would raise doubts. If there was a deliberately incorrect statement I would not want to submit it as evidence in court.

A POLICE REPORT IS THE ACCOUNT OF THE INCIDENT ACCORDING TO THE POLICE OFFICER.
PERJURY IS WHEN HE TESTIFIES TO HIS REPORT IN TRIAL AS TRUTH.
BUT THAT EVIDENCE I HAVE? (WHAT EVIDENCE DO YOU HAVE?)
CAN PROVE THAT THE STATEMENT IS WRONG. IT WAS A BLATANT LIE? (AT TRIAL OR HIRE AN ATTORNEY TO TALK TO THE DA ABOUT YOUR ALLEGATIONS)
IF THE TRUTH OUTS AND IT IS A LIE THEN THE CREDIBILITY OF THE OFFICER IS NOW AT STAKE AND THE REPORT CAN BE USED TO SUE THE DEPARTMENT FOR LIABLE, SLANDER, FALSE ARREST, FALSE STATEMENT ETC?
ONE WRONG STATEMENT CAN QUASH A REPORT AND A CASE IN AND OF ITSELF YES.

Of course. A police report is evidence; therefore, lying in a police report is tampering with evidence.

Again, he is reporting what SHE said.
Bring your proof to court and you get to go home a free man.

Your question can not be answered unless you say what was said, and what proof you have it was false. Otherwise, it is just an opinion and has no legal merit.
