I learned recently that mormons believe they and their spouses and their entire family will live together in the afterlife.

What about other churches? What will the afterlife be like, according to your beliefs? Will you live eterninty with your husband/wife??

"Where I am You also will be. I go to prepare a place for you." John's Gosepl makes clear that the destiny of those who follow Jesus is to be with Him for all eternity. It is this person to person relationship that satisfies the hungry hearts of human beings. Mormon theology seems to express etenity is very materialistic term like individuals ruling families on other planets. Traditional Christian belief is markedly different. Even on earth the most rewarding expreiences have to do with relating to another person in an open, intimate and continuing way. Hence marriage was understood as an avenue or insight into the workings of God among people. It was called a sacrament or mystery in Catholic and Orthodox theology because human experience became a disclosure of God at Work. It is not that people are married to one another in heaven. Earthly realities are made complete and perfect in the visible communion we have with God. Sacraments shall cease because what they reveal we are immersed in. Beyond the intimacy with God and the perfect actualization of saved human beings by the grace of Christ there is little else we can say about the afterlife. Eye has not seen nor ear heard, nor has it entered the human heart what God has prepared for His Lovers. The analogies which have disclosed God to us on earth like Birth, Growth, Nourishment, Relationship, Healing, Reconciliation and Committed Love do give us hints about how God is going to treat us there(like familiy). Thus we are mandated to treat one another in this fashion already here on earth as a sign of that for which we live(The Reign of God; The Kingdom).
The popular images like floating on a cloud and playing harps and singing like angels really are more about Liturgy described in Revelation as bringing about God's Fullness on earth through the witness of believers. Liturgy makes heaven happen on Earth.Being garbed in white and joined with All others from every age and place and time is a function of the Liturgy as well. We need step into the analogies and perceive what they are saying to us rather than getting tied down to the symbols. Even the Islamic idea of Virgins serving the Glorified Ones in Allah's presence points to the intimacy and fruitfulness of Life with God. The descriptions are meant to encourage us on our way. We reveal that for which we live by a steady witness of faith, hope and love. God will do what God has promised. We might do well to reflect on how a dog desires to follow its Master no matter where the Master goes. The dog will paw and yearn strongly to follow even though it does not know where the Master has gone. Lock yourself in a room sometime and allow your pet to express its need to be with you. If these dogs can express such devotion to us don't they suggest what our following Jesus into Glory ought be. We do not know where it is or what is there except for the Lord. However that is enough for us to want to go along.

In regard to your last question, for those who never hear about God and Jesus, I know God has mercy on them. He wouldn't allow them to perish. God is a loving God. Having said that, I think that the time is approaching when everyone on the planet- even people in isolated places- will have had a chance to hear about Jesus Christ. Man has screwed things up majorly. If anyone is right, it's a miracle- they may be right only because their speculation happens to be the right answer. I'm a Christian- but I make mistakes all the time, and I get things wrong all the time. Who am I to say what the divine truth is? I am a small man- but this is not a small matter. I am unfit to declare what the real truth is about the afterlife. I do believe in heaven and hell. I think that hell has different "levels." People sometimes talk about God sending people to hell, and they say that God isn't all loving since he does this. But God doesn't make our choices. We have to be accountable for everything we do in this life. Blaming it on God is a cop-out.

My opinion is if husband and wife die at different spiritual levels, no, they won't be together. That's why communication and sharing is so important in a marriage: grow together so you two end up together in the spiritual realm. Otherwise, one will be higher (or lower) then the other.

I know that I will recognize people, just like we will recognize Moses, Elijah, Peter, but our relationship will be a brother and sister. We will not be involved romantically in any way. Our main focus will be worshiping Jesus and being with with Him, nothing else matters.

Our understanding of Love is very limited.
When we get to heaven, we will understand it fully, and if we have done nothing to deserve it, we will be immersed in the most bitter of regrets. If we fully deserve heaven, great will be our joy. That is all I know of the after life.

as Jesus said one time when asked if a brother dies and other brother marries the widow, and if also this brother dies and another brother also marries the widow to fill in the place as the old custom of the Jews were, they asked, when they resurrect and go to heaven, who of all the brothers she was going to be the wife of?...Jesus answered them _:" in heaven there won't be relations as those in earth, since we(those that are going to heaven) are going to be like angels (PURE LIGHT)"-.
