Try just saying hello. If she's interested she'll respond in a friendly way. Try to start up a conversation by commenting on something that's going on nearby or about some product or shop nearby.

I remember a guy once saying "Don't look so scared. Your eyes look so much better when you smile." (Then again, I was rockclimbing in Mexico when he said that... So I don't think that would work.)

I was gonna say compliment her on what she's wearing but that could send the wrong message. Oh this is a hard question... Everything seems either corny, cliché or inappropriate. Tell her that she has a pretty smile or eyes. I always find it cute when they say something like "I don't mean to sound too cliché, but you have a beautiful smile." Or, you could walk up to her and say something like "Sorry for bothering you, but I couldn't leave today without telling you that you have the prettiest smile." And then leave... because it doesnt come across as a pick-up line, but more as just a compliment.

THERE'S MY ADVICE! (haha! I figured it out!) Compliment her in any way without it coming across as a pick-up line. I know that would work one me!

Approach her by saying hello, never make any of those campy and sometimes derogatory remarks, and ask her about anything that is around you. Use your enviroment to infuence your dialogue, by how she replies you should be able to sense whether to go and try to get her number or not, but it is best to try to talk for about ten minutes before getting a number, we women normally think that if a guy asks us for our number from the get-go, they are only looking for one thing... and good luck if you are trying to get her on a date. Oh, and smile, a lot. :)

You see, you have to say something non-threatening, so she'll wonder why you're not attracted to her. Get her involved, then strike up a conversation, but let her know you've got to get going soon - so there's no pressure.

Then shut up - do not say a single word.

If she's interested, she'll offer YOU her phone number. Don't give her yours, get HERS. Then you're in.
