a really good advantage of being unicellular is that you don't need complex systems to get nutrients or oxygen, being one cell you can just do diffusion (instead of being multicellular humans - we have circulatory systems, lungs cuz we're too thick to get oxygen by diffusion) --> less physiologically demanding.

Usually reproduction by asexual means which does not require locating a member of the opposite sex is an advantage. That's one.
