I have some older Motorola 2-way radios (10 channel, 38 privacy code). I'd like to get a pair of newer ones, but I'm wondering if the newer ones will work with the older ones? That is - be able to use all 4 radios to communicate with one another all on the same channel?

I assume that a channel is a channel (aka, Channel "2" on FRS is the same on both radio pairs?)

Any insight much appreciated!

The channels on all FRS radios are set by the FCC. I'd be surprised if they weren't in the same order. The privacy codes are limited and will be the same. Again, probably in the same order. All FRS radios are narrow band, analog transmissions so there should be no problem with old and new working together.

If they have access to the frequency and the privacy code you need than you should be able to use the new ones as well.
