In addition to haveing undersized bores, plugs, and other devices to prevent firing projctiles, most blank guns are simply not strong enough to contain the pressure of a live cartridge.

Most blank guns are made of sintered metal, aka pot metal. The pressured generated by centerfire cartridges is measured in the thousands of pounds per square inch. If you manage to fire a live round, you will probably have the gun blow up in your hand. In all probability, you will end up with half the slide sticking out of your face, as well as other bits and pieces of metal. You'd be lucky not to loose any fingers. And bystanders would not be safe either, if they are within 10 yards or so and not behind cover.

Do yourself a favor. Wait until you are old enough to purchase a real firearm.

NO. While all guns can fire blanks a firearm that is specifically designed to ONLY fire blanks has a plugged barrel that will cause the gun to explode if you put live ammo inside. Plus most blank firing guns are 8mm and there is no real round that is an 8mm.

Blank Pistols

Many blank pistols will not be long enough in the chamber to accomodate live ammunition.

since a blank round is intended to create flash and noise (not propel a solid) a different powder charge is used and rounds often are not as long as live ammunitiion where the charge is designed to propel a bullet.

To anyone knowledgable about fire arms the first thing to be done before firing any fire arm is to check the bore for any obstructions----a blank gun will have obstructions clearly visible at this check !!

If you are referring to the Beretta lok alikes that fire 8mm blank ammo, it will not work. The metal the guns are made of cannot stand the pressures of live ammo let alone the fact the barrels are plugged. We used to use these type of weapons for citizen training, including the .45 ACP which I believe was 10mm, the Beretta, 8mm, and not only is the cost of the gun expensive, the ammo is very expensive.

Serves a purpose for training civilians and new police but to fire them with live ammo or re-wok them to fire live ammo is dangerous.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend it. Most blank guns are plugged or modified in some way. Its possible maybe but do you really want to risk loosing a finger/hand or even die just to see? Be safe and buy a gun that shoots live ammo.

Most likely it will not be able to fire live ammo. Blank guns have permanently plugged barrels.
