i have entered the phrase "heut ist mein tag" (the song by Blumchen) into a LOT of translators and they all give me "my day is heut"... so i assume heut isn't a formal word or something like that... does anyone know what it means in english?

You're spelling "heut" wrong. It's spelled "heute". "Heute ist mein tag" means "Today is my day". <3

Heute means today.
If they are spelling it "heut", they're doing it to approximate real pronunciation.

So the song is called "Today is my day".

"Gegen" might in user-friendly terms recommend "approximately" whilst pertaining to time to illustrate, like in "Treffen wir united statesgegen 14 Uhr", which potential "permit's meet at approximately 2 p.m." or "Ich conflict gegen 14 Uhr dort" - "I arrived there around 2 p.m.". yet on your case it easily potential "against"!
