On judgement day the bible says that they will be judged by thier works or in this case their sins. Then both Death (the lost souls) and Hell will be cast into the Lake of Fire (Gehenna) which is like Prison where you get a Life Sentence.

You are right. I am used to using the two interchangeably but Hell (the people and angels in it) will be cast into the lake of fire. That is where they will reside forever.

For me it speaks of purgatory and death before the Second Coming of Jesus.

Purgatory is the cleansing fire that all passes through before entering Heaven. Gehenna is the eternal fire of torment for which the damned go for eternity.
