I read some records on a web page not long ago from Kansas in the late 1800s. That implies "forever".

They keep the record forever. But the charges are what can disappear. Misdeamanors probably go away after awhile, but things like felonys and stuff probably last for years or even life depending on what they are

we have records going back to 1980 on our computer. before the computers i would guess they did everything hby hand. i dont know if the files still exist though. i sure major cases would still be around. but minor stuff like stolen bikes and dog bites may have been thrown out.

it depends on the crime. My friend got something on her record but they said it would only be there for 3 years. if it were for something serious, then yeah, forever.
