Depends on where you live and how old you are. In most places you have to be at least 16 to be "independent," but it varies. That said, I would be willing to bet you that this is one of those "be careful what you wish for" situations. The consequences of running away are rarely good, and being free of the restrictions of home does NOT mean you get to "do what you want." You'll find that trying to survive in the world restricts you more than anything. Remember this: the grass always looks greener on the other side of the hill. It's a cheesy cliche, to be sure, but it has existed for a long time for a reason: it's true. Things can get worse, and if you run away, odds are they will.

You're right. I do think you are crazy.
I live out on my own, and I still am not free to do whatever I want. Where in the world did you think you could do that? As a matter of fact, you are MORE free living with your parents. How would you pay to live on your own? Do you have a job? Could you afford to live on your own?
If you are 17, you are legally an adult in many states. You would not have to run away, but simply move out. If you are younger than 17, just deal with it until you are 17. Or hopefully your mom will put you in a military school or something.

No, but if you get in legal trouble before your 18 then she is partly responsible. Think about it, isn't near as easy as you think when you are on your own, At best you would get a job making seven dollars an hr legally, at forty hrs a week that is 280 dollars, which after takes is around 800 a month, My apartment to rent is 680 then how will you eat pay liablity insurance for a car, and etc. Think about it, you move out you will likely be living out of a box.

Dude, you are only 14 years old! Get real! You're still a kid in what, eighth grade or ninth? Don't get such crazy ideas! You don't have any idea what it is like to live away from home. It's hard! Were you planning to get a job? Like what kind of jobs can a 14 year old get? Do you know how much apartments rent for? You know they won't even accept your application! And, I haven't even mentioned the legalities. If you mother kicks you out, she can go to jail. If you run away, you can get thrown in a group home for delinquent boys. Live at home. Go to school. Be a normal kid. Don't be stupid.

If you think you're so adult to handle life in the REAL world, then hell....run away. But obviously you have no clue what the real world is like or you'd stay the hell in your comfy bed under your comfy roof. There are thousands of runaway girls every year that end up prostituting themselves on the streets in order to live. Do you really want to end up like that? Have you even thought about where you'd live, how you'd pay for food, how you'd get to work, etc? No matter how bad it is at home, I guarantee you, it'll be harder out there.

Here, I think you can emancipate yourself at 17, but you have to have somewhere else to stay, and a way to support yourself. If you're under 17 you can forget that.
I'm from Georgia, and I don't know if that's state-wide or nationwide? I'm not sure.
Living arrangements are expensive, so is college, it's hard to put all that on yourself all at once with just a temp job, and going to school.

A parent is legally obliged to provide mininal levels of care for a child. That ordinarily includes food and shelter. If the child is being a jerk, however, the mother should not simply throw him out. Instead, the mother can petition the court to declare the child to be incorrigible and then committed to the custody of the state (locked up) until he is an adult.

I'm 20 years old, and let me tell ya unless ya are ready for them bills to be coming in your name and being paid by you every month, plus buying your own food, providing shelter for your self, your own clothes and everything else. Stay out home and suck it up.
If you run away she can get you for being Unruly. Not the best ideal. She is responsible for you, so nope she can't really kick you out. Just press charges against you for being unruly.

If your under 18, it is. Stay at home it's for the better. You'll be able to leave before you know it, and who knows may end up wanting to go back home. It's a rough world out there.

If you are under 18, then you have to stay home and do what mommy says, it's the law
she can't kick you out, unless you go to court and get permission
