The lack of authority is no excuse for doing "wrong". regardless of weather or not there is anything after this life I would still not want to hurt, cheat, or wrong anyone. If we were all a little nicer to one another and instead of attacking each other (either with words or with guns) we would love one another, this world would be a better place.

Everyone has been hurt or wounded in some way. God gave us the power of choice. I choose to show love unconditionally. I have been hurt, badly. Yet, because of that, I choose not to inflict pain on anyone else because I know how it feels. True love is giving to other's basic needs without having as your motive personal reward. The law of sowing and reaping applies in our life as it does on the earth. Some people call this karma. Even if there was no reward, I would choose to love because that is what I want to be. The only punishment that God tells of this is that those with unforgiveness in our hearts will not enter heaven. I have no worries of this and God help me if there is unforgiveness lingering in my heart. The way we treat other people reflects on who we are....and if we say that we love God, then we better represent Him, if not, we are not true Christians at all.

If it were not for God I would probably be a horrible person. Saying whatever came to mind when someone has hurt my feelings or have done something to me. It's not just about receiving an award its about having inner peace, peace of mind, and having something to look forward to when I pass away from this earth. Who wouldn't want the reward of a place where there is no death, crying, hurt, pain and disappointments. Life on this earth is filled with them. Violence everywhere the Innocent always getting hurt. Yes I will be a nicer person for a great reward such as the one up in heaven with My Lord and savior "JESUS CHRIST".

I haven't always been a Christian, but I believe I've always been a good person. It's just a little different now...good isn't good enough. Like I used to tell little white lies, I was never good at lying, but now I won't. I don't have a fear of God as I do of spiders. It's more awe and reverence.
God Bless.

I help people because I care about them. I could care less if there is a reward or not. As far as fear or punishment it never enters my mind because I have been redeemed and all of that is past history. I really never think about rewards until someone mentions it. Thanks. Maybe I will have one or two waiting for me.

God does not threaten. He is love.
1 Corinthians 13
1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
The fear of God is not about "fear." Fear is the devil's tool to control people. Trusting God is absolute, glorious freedom!

I don't think so. It's kind of like when you have a loving parent, and you just don't want to disappoint him. It's not done out of fear, but out of the love you have for God. You just try your hardest not to disappoint him, because you love him. And when you make a mistake, you can go to Him like a loving parent and ask for forgiveness. And when your loving parent does forgive you, all seems right with the world.
So, no, not fear...just love.
Take care

Millionth time, Christians are not motivated by fear, as in being afraid, to serve God. We serve God out of thanks, gratitude, love, awe, respect.
As far as "fear" goes, as in being afraid, on this site atheists are the ones who always bring it up, that along with "hell." Fear and hell certainly seems to occupy a lot of your thought life.

If you don't have fear then you are a fool.I feared my father but he was a good man.At first we come to God from fear of Him.But it is His Spirit that reveals to us that we are only doing that which is expected of us.If you are a good citizen are you doing anybody a favor by observing the law?

Rom 5:8-9
8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
