Try growing it in the presence of a disc impregnated with the antibiotic. If there isn't a substantial ring of inhibition around the disc where the organism won't grow, it is resistant

Try to grow the bacteria on an agar plate impregnated with the antibiotic. If the 'bug' is resistant, it will grow. If it is not resistant, it will not grow!

usually if a culture is performed then the results indicated will show resistance or susceptibility to particular antibiotics. if it is mrsa the culture wil present this as well.
