Every Bose audio product (speakers, subwoofer/satellite systems, the Bose Wave radio) I have ever heard sounds the same: the bass is muddy, the midrange is weak, and the treble is hissy. I would imagine the headphones sound the same. And, everything Bose has ever sold is overpriced.
If you want noice cancellation headphones, look at the Sony MDR-NC60 headphones. If you don't necessarily want noise cancellation, but want good sound quality, look into the Sennheiser HD series (I have the HD560s and they are awesome). You'll be spending less than $200 on either the Sony or the Sennheiser, but that's less than the $300 you'll pay for the Bose.

earphones these days are more marketing than product. bose is no different.

I think they're 0ver rated. But I'd think that 0f any brand that had t0 advertise as hard as B0se d0es t0 sell a pr0duct.
