Josie, calm down, hon. Your mom is a big girl. If she is dizzy, she needs to see her doctor. It could be a lot of different things. She could have low blood sugar, low potassium, high blood pressure, etc. But don't freak!!!! They are ALL treatable.

I get the same thing with my fingers. It's the way I was sleeping. Soon as I get up, the feeling goes right back into them.

There's nothing wrong with that. She could be dehydrated or she could have an ear infection or just plain vertigo - that would be the dizziness through the day.

There's nothing wrong with waking up and only having a few fingers asleep. Some people sleep with their head on their hands and if they're only sleeping on 3 fingers out of 5, then only those few will fall asleep.

If she's really worried, she should go see a neurologist.

I had the same symptoms. It turned out to be diabetes. But your mother will have to see a doctor to be properly diagnosed. Is she excessively thirsty? Urinate frequently? Losing weight rapidly? Having trouble with infections? These are all symptoms I ignored...or rather, refused to recognize.

I also have several compressed discs in my neck. The first question the doctor asked me was if I had tingling in my fingers. It was just in my three last fingers of my left hand. He tested my strength and found that I had weakness in my little finger...another sign of a neck problem. We know what it is now and are taking care of the problem.

Please see that she gets to a doctor. I waited a long time and found out that my diabetes had gotten so bad that my blood sugar was almost 400 by the time I was diagnosed (it should be just under a hundred).
