no matter how many layers are added to blu-rays,(dual,triple,etc) will it still be compatible with the blu-ray drive in the ps3?

Yes the ps3 has a firmware upgrade for the higher compressions as they come out so when the 200gig blueray compression is used the ps3 will read it.

Sony was talking about future possibility for 200GB games (Toshiba had made this prototype BD disc already). Right now there is no need for such capacity, so Sony is keeping it for the future. PS3 exclusives weigh around 30GB. Maximum capacity of nowadays BD-DVD is 54GB. Multiplatform games weigh around 8GB (thanx to 360 - that console is capable of running only dual-layer usual DVD, never heard of HD-DVD games for 360).
