It takes time to get spiritually stronger. You need to become more like a spiritual warrior. Meditation, mind-body exercise or other exercise, a healthy diet, and not overindulging will help. Life is a struggle. Great characters often deal with great hardship, and struggle, before overcoming great odds, and coming up with great achievement. You must take one step at a time, and keep up a constant effort over time. Change can be subtle, and take a while. But, it will add up. What ever you go through will become a part of you that will be valuable to you latter. A person who knows how to struggle and overcome, can be very sensitive and helpful to others that have problems. The world is full of problems, and people who have overcome their own problems can be very useful in this world. Don't give up, just keep fighting to get stronger.

First off, David strengthened himself in the Lord.
Second...
Where two or more are gathered together, there I am.
Third...
When two are together, if one should slip the other can help him up.
It's all in the good book. I tried the loner thing and fell a dozen times. Now I'm standing taller than ever, but I have a (spiritual/church) family with me.

Find a Church.
Read the Bible.
Find yourself a spiritual director.
Or go to an Opus Dei center. They helped me.
I was like you about a month ago. I was deep into depression, and had suicide attempts somewhat monthly, but these people brought me back. Now I'm happy. For inspiration, read this post on my blog: http://geekcritic.wordpress.com/2007/11/27/royce-religion-choices-life-codes-and-other-things/
It summarized the journey I took.

If you dwell on horrible things too much you may be depressed. Or just morbid. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but, if you want to wean yourself off of such thoughts, try to remove yourself from the environment in which they occur. If you surround yourself with good company, good conversation, or just good nature, it should be enough of a distraction to purge some of those thoughts for the time.
Or just go to Church. That obviously works for absolutely everyone to ever exist.

Worship The Creator and not the creation.
Ask The Creator to guide you to that which is right, have patience.
To end suffering destroy your desire!
Pray to The Creator and mean what you say.
The Creator is all knowing and most forgiving.

God says in the Qur'an:
'For, whatever good thing comes to you, comes from God; and whenever harm befalls you, it is unto Him that you cry for help'
'Behold, your only helper shall be God, and His Apostle, and those who have attained to faith - those that are constant in prayer, and render the purifying dues, and bow down [before God]:

1.Sit & Smile to 2 minutes, do nothing but think of something beautiful or something that makes you smile.
2.Anytime you are feeling low, just start smiling.
3.Learn to meditate and relax, learn about hypnosis.
All these will help you get out of the rut you are in.

accept yourself as you are
get to know yourself
promote things that help you
you can't love or help others if you can't do it for yourself first
after you figure this out, worry about others
