Honor Killings in the Name of Religion

by Mohamad K. Yusuff

A few weeks ago, ABC News magazine, Nightline, televised a documentary, originally produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), titled, A Matter of Honor, on two consecutive nights -- February 15 and 16, 1999. The drama that enfolded on television during these two one-half hour programs was stunning, incredible, and heinous. It dealt with a barbaric custom of murdering Muslim women for immoral activities in rural Pakistan, at the hands of male family members, including fathers, brothers, and even husbands, to maintain the purity of tribal honor.

but the Yazidi's also do this

yet another attempt to spread hate...
it is more of a culture and tradtion thing, nothing to do with religion.
Lots of socities throughout history have killed for honor or revenge.
sad that people cant find something better to talk about
tolerance and reaching out is the real challenge.

I don't know, but here's something that might surprise you...

Honor killing in Islam is forbidden... how? proof?... here...

Surat Altakweer:

8 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned.
9 For what sin she was killed?

People used to kill their daughters out of fear that they might bring shame, and that is the same thing... Islam forbids such acts.

:D

Peace.

You want people to say 'Islam'. Don't you?

But this has nothing to do with the faith. It's an un-Islamic custom of some Islamic countries.
