Wiccans are sometimes involved in communicating with the spiritual realm in their practices correct? Has anyone succeeded in doing this? What do you believe are the sources of the spirits you contact, and what do you believe about God?

No, I don't communicate with the spiritual realm as part of ritual. How are spirits going to help me achieve anything? During ritual I commune with the Goddess and the God. I can't tell you the sources of the spirits I contact, because I don't. Can you tell me where you got this idea from? I'm just curious if you know any Wiccans who brag about communicating with the spiritual realm during ritual (part of being a "good Wiccan" and having effective spellwork is the ability to keep our traps shut about it).

I believe there is a Godhead, which split into the Goddess and the God. The Goddess and the God created everything, so that all of nature is balanced with masculine and feminine energies. Nature, as a direct extension of Goddesss and God, is inherently Divine.

In order to communicate with Goddess or God, I use lesser goddesses and gods, because Goddess and God are too...how to put it...huge for the human mind to comprehend. If I need help in my love life, I talk to Aphrodite/Venus, because she is the aspect of Goddess that I need help from. If I just contact Goddess, I may end up getting help from an entirely different aspect of Goddess than I really need help from, like Athena or Artemis.

Blessed Yule.

I'm a Pagan not Wicca specifically. Yes, I do connect with the spiritual realm in some of my rituals, but my main function is to connect with the Goddess and the God and this I have done. It is a feeling that I'm not sure I can describe only say that it is the most incredible thing in my life. Like many others I often call on the Goddess or the God by specific names , depending on what I am working on. No I don't worship dirt. I worship the deities that created the dirt and the trees and the spirits and everything else in the universe. Yes, I believe that every living thing has a spirit, not a soul mind you but a spirit that when it dies returns to the earth to begin anew the cycle of birth and death. The so called dirt is our planet that the Gods lovingly created for us and I do my utmost to show them how thankful I am by doing every thing in my power to help and heal what generations of ignorant people have done to hurt and destroy her.

I'm not Wiccan, but I see that hasn't stopped other non Wiccans from sharing their input. I work with spirits too. "God" to me is a Divine Force, an impersonal source of pure energy, but you can certainly define your own personal relationship with It if you want to. Source of the spirits? Just a higher vibration plane of existence. People are just people whether in form (bodies) or in spirit. Though the highest spiritual evolution one can reach though is returning to the Source and losing that sense of an individual identity, I feel.

Not all Wiccans/Witches communicate with spirits, and not all people who have the ability to do this are Wiccan. Others are Non-Wiccan Witches, Shamans, Spiritualists, Native American Spirituality, Afro-Centric Religions, Christians, just to name a few.

"...the sources of the spirits..."
That depends on the person you ask--each person will have a different perception of where the spirit/s are. I am a traditional (non-wiccan) witch, and I believe that spirits dwell in the spirit world (or Summerland), which is on another plane. The Spirit World/Summerland is where trad witches believe we go when we die to rest in order to prepare for rebirth into the physical world. During this resting period, some spirits serve as spirit guides (some people who are not witches like to refer to this as your Guardian Angel) to the living. Everybody has at least one until they pass. After the guided one passes and "learns the ropes" of the Spirit World/Summerland, the guide is either reborn into the physical world or permanently resides in Summerland with their gods/goddesses.

Wiccans usually believe in the gods/goddesses as literal figures, much like how a Christian believes in God. Some traditional witches do this, some do not. Some of us believe in them as allegories, symbols, or aspects of the Divine--this is how I believe. Similar to the Holy Trinity in Christianity, these aspects are part of a collective whole known as the Divine. But, if you ask this question to 10 Witches/Wiccans, you're gonna get 10 different answers. This is just me.

The rituals that Wiccans and Witches do are our way of communicating with the Divine. Each Witch has his/her own special way of doing this.

Samhain is one of the holidays in which communication between the two worlds is easier (Beltane the other). The source of the spirits are loved ones and ancestors who have crossed the bridge. Although there are nature spirits as well.

Your question about god is somewhat ambiguous, but I will assume you are either referring to the christain god. The christian god is not a concept that is present in Wicca, as the roots of Wicca (not Wicca itself) pre-date chrsitanity. In Wicca, the goddess is often revered equally if not more so than a God. The Goddess is often Diana, but could be any number of Goddesses and the God is often Pan, but again could be any number of gods depending on the tradition.

The deities in Wicca are viewed much differently than the deities in Christianity. Practitioners are in touch with the deities. In Wicca, practitioners don't beg the god or goddess to make something happen, they ask the god and goddess to assist them in making it happen. The pricipiles in Wicca are more Karma driven than Dogmatic. The God and Goddess are beings on a higher level, but they are still part of nature and part of the universe. Thus, if you cause harm to others, it will return to you 3 fold; but not by the hands of the God and Goddess, by virtue of the fact that it is how the universe operates.

I have not contacted any spirits, yet I have felt magic which I think comes from the elements of the world and what is beyond it. I think there is a God and she/he is good and has a great sense of humor.
