atheist especially on here have a big problem with christians its like a vendetta like the 4th crusade or something i believe in god you dont i dont have a problem with you so why cant we just share our opinions and beliefs in a peaceful manner just because youre atheist doesnt make you my enemy im at peace with myself my beliefs everything why cant atheist be that way like for instance im answering a question about religion i say i believe in god and whatever and i have like 10 thumbs down when i check back at the question why are atheist so hateful

i hear what a lot of you are saying and you're stereotyping ok most government people who claim their christian are really not such as george bush i can say some things that will shock you and i have evidence to back it up but im getting off point

I know what you mean. I've been reported a few times for "not answering the question". However I looked at the other answers to those questions and a lot of the well known "atheists" had not answered the question AT ALL, but had gone completely off the deep end with unrelated stuff, or even posted "?" as an answer. They were not reported. Strange coincidence isn't it? Only the Christian gets reported. Oh well, its only Y!A.
To answer your question to the best of my ability though, I would have to say that they see Christ in us and since they hate Christ, they hate us.

If you had a group of people who were constantly looking down on you and telling you were going to hell because you do not believe the same thing, you would be angry too. Also, answering a question by saying that you believe in god is not a real answer. It is what YOU believe. That is it. You cannot go around imposing your beliefs on others.
Most atheists are not angry. I think that the internet allows people to bully others.

Are you the only Christian in the world or do you just speak for all of them? The simple fact is that a lot of Christians have problems with atheists. I think you're blowing a few thumbs down out of proportion. Hateful was the word you used, correct? I think you're a little too sensitive.

I'm glad that you are at peace with atheists :-)
At the same time however, there are so many other Christians that are just certain that atheists "need God" in their lives, and will burn for all eternity if they don't accept God. Atheists get sick of the conversion attempts no matter how well-intended they may be.

I don't have a problem with what a person believes---I might find it hilariously funny - but to each his own.
I DO have a problem when their beliefs interfere with my rights. I have a problem with their efforts to force their beliefs into schools, public arenas, and other taxpayer supported venues.
Religious belief is very personal. It should be practiced in the home and in church....no place else.

The 4th crusade is a rather ironic term to use.
I have a problem with anyone who believes in oppressing gays, making a legal decision on what I can do with my body, and/or indoctrinating my children with your myths.
If you don't do or believe in any of that, then I have no problem with you.

Same thing goes the other way. I'm an atheist and get thumbs down regardless of my reply...just because I'm atheist. There are haters on both sides...not just one:)
