Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the body’s bronchial (airway) tissues. People with asthma experience shortness of breath, chest tightness, coughing and wheezing. These symptoms intensify during an asthma attack, which occurs when exposure to allergens or other stimuli further inflame the airways, leading to an inability to expel trapped air from the lungs.

Take a look at Total Health's Allergy & Asthma Center. It's filled with excellent, medically-reviewed information on this topic. I think you'll find it helpful! Take care!

Wow, get him in for an evaluation fast. He may have asthma, so be sure to take out stuffed furniture, toys, etc., that harbor dust. Vacuume his bed weekly and get a mattress cover. If the room is carpeted, not good either. But if you cannot remove it, put an air purifier in the room which will help.

Do you live in an area where people burn fireplaces at night? Where someone smokes in the house? Try to make sure the baby is not exposed to these.

I suggest seeing a pediatric respiratory specialist, get some tests and then you will know what is going on.

When babies are born the doctor has to remove the amiontic fluid from the babies throat if not the baby cannot breathe I had to do that once to my first daughter when she was about 7 to 8 months she could not breathe while drinking her bottle. I did that and she drink all her bottle fell fast asleep. You may want to consider that if not call your pediatrian tomorrow for the closest appointment. God bless you and your baby.
