Okay, so double-standards exist, and we all know that. Most of us are upset about it and wish that they were eliminated.
But who is most guilty of allowing these to persist? Men or women?
For instance, most will say a double-standard exists with regards to virginity and promiscuity (that it's more socially acceptable if men sleep around than if women sleep around). But who is more responsible for this acceptance? Some might say men, but I would guess that some women are just as guilty as accusing others as promiscuous even if she's had sex only once.
Your thoughts? Which stereotypes and double-standards are perpetuated by which gender, or are they both responsible?

I am personally innocent of applying double-standards with malicious intent, but I can't speak for the rest of my gender.

It's not a question of gender it's a question of perpetuating ideas and beliefs and both sexes are guilty of it. There's the religious beliefs, social taboos, your upbringing...so many things influence us that sometimes it's hard to stop and think what you actually want. I know because I was under someones influence for ages and it took me a long time to figure out that just adopting their beliefs onto myself is not who I was. It's the people that spread these ideas and beliefs without stopping to think for themselves. They just believe it because someone else said that that's how it should be.

I might be the odd man out, but who really wants to marry a virgin? They'd be terrible in bed.
I personally have no problem with women sleeping around as much as men do. There's no reason women should be forced to adhere to archaic standards.

Men: They love to sleep around yet expect to marry a virgin.
Women: They let men get into their pants instead of waiting for marriage, yet blame men when they desert her; that, inspite of elders advising them to abstain!
Double standards exist everywhere and in equal proportion!
