No, Congregational is its own category, although some churches are also United Church of Christ.

Congregational churches are a little hard to pin down as to what their exact theology is, since they're not so much a united denomination as a movement, or way of running church affairs. Each congregational church has it's own church government, as opposed to other churches that has a central body deciding what the church believes in, how to choose church officials, etc.

To know better what kind of protestant you are, you would need to listen to what is being preached in your church and compare it with the beliefs of the various denominations.

I grew up in the Congregational Church. It has a very long history in this country. Read Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, by Jonathon Edwards.

You are protestant.
The Lutherans and Baptists are as different as the Catolics and Mormons.
That's my church too. Congregational, accepts all people, a congregation of all who believe in Christ as their savior.
I love it.
And if you believe in Christ you are a Christian.

Congregationalists are basically mainstream Christian. I would also say its a fairly liberal, accepting church. So you are likely not fundamentalist, evangelical, literalist or charismatic. I call that mainstream, similar to Presbyterian, Anglican (Episcopalian) or Methodist.

Call me naive, but... shouldn't you at least know what kind of religion you practice *before* practicing it?
