I have known Mormons and heard of Mormons, and I think Mitt has done a good job of keeping his faith out of the election proceedings while still being able to answer questions asked of him.

How can a person not have heard of Mormons? Unless you live in a cave somewhere, there are Mormons in pretty much every city, plus missionaries, plus houses of worship. A person would have to be seriously isolated not to have encountered Mormons. Plus, the Book of Mormon is easily available just about everywhere. It didn't take Mitt Romney to break the news to me that Mormonism exists.

I knew what Mormon was. I have always been curious to learn about other beliefs so I have read passages of the Boook of Mormon and gone to their websites. This has provided me with a good information about LDS. I know the origins of it and the year the church was established, what Mormons believe. Even some beliefs about the celestial or terrestial kingdom which some weird to me. Also, the sacred undergarment and the wedding temple that non-Mormons can't see. But I know that Mormons hold these beliefs to be true and to be essential to their faith. I respect their beliefs, I just don't agree with it.

I've known of them for a while, but during my tenure in college I worked with one for almost a year. I gained a little more insight into their doctrine and history, both of which are very interesting and like most religions somewhat controversial. One thing I don't understand about religious candidates is why they openly say that they would serve the people and not their god or religion. To me that sounds like an renouncement of faith in disguise and an abdication of integrity.

if an LDS gets such a position will signify a very good mark in relation to the rapture. Just thinking of the possibilities sets me into a very happy hopeful frame of mind. The whole planet translated like the city of Enoch? New Zion established without 1000 yrs of woe(s)??

My uncle and his family joined the Mormon religion about 30 years ago. So I knew about it.
They tried to get all the rest of the family to join, I'm glad my parents didn't.
I have been to their museum in Independence Missouri and saw their pageant there. It was really neat.

Me!!!! Of course, I've been a member all of my life so I would have to be very very oblivious to not have ever heard of them or know anything about them.
By the way, it's The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
