I was trying to find out how to get a copy of my DD214. I have ten years in the guard , when I got out I was an E-5. How do I determine whether I have veteran status.

Your discharge certificate was probably issued by the State Adjutant General of the Maryland National Guard. And you would have to contact that office in Annapolis for your DD 214. However, ten years in the Guard does make you a veteran.

your rank or time in service have nothing to do with veteran status. you are a vet when you have boots on the deck in a combat zone for a certaint amount of time.
