Changing your dogs food immediately can cause loose stools, but I don't think it's life threatening. Usually people recommend to spread changing food over a week or two. Change it gradually by mixing it in with the old food. 75% old and 25% new for the first few days. 50% old, 50% new for the next few days. 25% old, 75% new for the next few days. Then finally, 100% new. It usually prevents loose stools because you switch over gradually. I don't think you HAVE to go back to the old food. If your dogs seem normal, other than loose stools, you could wait it out.

It is not bad to change food but when you are changing food you should gradually integrate the new food with the old. This will help you dog to not have loose stool. But if you did it all at once and he has loose stool I would wait it out for a bit, but if it lasts more than a month I would change or contact your vet.

Well maybe not good. Most dogs will thrive on most foods. However, no one food is right for every dog. If you have a food that is working, leave well enough alone. Many dogs have trouble after being switched to some ''better'' food. Also, the more different things a dog eats, the harder to work around it if it eventually develops food allergies. Those knowing the most about dogs pick a food and stick with it.

I switch my dogs foods around all the time. I have three different foods that I switch around between during the week. Dogs are scavengers by nature and they shouldn't be eating the same food everyday, it's not natural.

Just like humans they can develop allergies by eating the same food day in and day out.

I do a mix between Innova Evo red meat, chicken, and original, Nature's Variety Instinct dry, Natures Variety Raw, NutraLife, and then I often add different foods into the mix. I also give raw meat, fruits and veggies.

I have never agreed with the logic that dogs should only eat dry dog food and only one kind at that. My dogs eat "people food" all the time.

As was said when changing food after feeding a certain food for a long time do it over a period of time. But don't hesitate to change foods around, your dog will be better for it.

Switching the food to quickly can cause loose stools give him a few days on the new food and see how he does. if you change it again do it slowly try mixing some old with the new adding a little more new each time giving there system time to adjust. Good luck

When you change your pets food you should mix the old food with a little of the new food and slowly add more of the new food every week until you make a complete change to the new food. Otherwise its unhealthy and there stomachs may not be able to adjust. Try mixing in the old food again or ask your vet what you can do.

Did you mix the new food with old food? You cannot just give your dog the new food. You should mix it gradually like 25% of new food, then 50%, 75% and 100%. I hope this helps.

Changing food should be done slowly. A sudden switch to something a dog isn't used to eating can cause diarrhea.

I do this over about a two week timespan:
25% food A, 75% food B
50% food A, 50% food B
75% food A, 25% food B
100% food A

The act of changing foods in itself isn't bad though. It is thought to decrease the development of allergies by rotating foods. You can read an article about food rotation here: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/changing_foods.htm

If you are going to change their food, do it gradually, mix in 1/4 of its food, then 1/2, then 3/4, etc. Its better to stay the same though...

No dont change the food again. Just wait it out now that you've changed it.
Just remember next time to change over very slowly with new food!
