I no longer have cable and I cannot get reception at all. It says "no signal" on the tv. Would I get just the basic channels if I hook the tv to my vcr?

Actually I meant to ask if vcr has an antenna built in that will enable me to get reception.

VCRs do not have internal antennas. You have to attach a TV antenna to the antenna/cable input connector.

Usually people connect their TV antenna to the VCR and then use a short length of coax cable to connect the RF out on the VCR to the Antenna/cable in connector on their TV. That way you can record one program while watching another.

Haven't seen it happen yet. Places like walmart still have rabbit ears for we the non cable cave dwellers. They are inexpensive & way cheaper than the cable bills (in my area anyway.) Hope this helps.

check the frequency of reception on your vcr manual. If it's the same then you might receive it. On the quality of reception I would doubt it..
