Of purebreds, the golden retriever. Big dogs are so much fun, easier to train and generally have a kinder disposition in my opinion. They are more like people than dogs.
However, I have a beagle, lab mix and not only is he the cutest and healthiest dog, but when i adopted him from a shelter nearby, i knew i was doing the right thing. If you are going to get another dog, get one from a shelter nearby, with so many choices, there are many benifits as well. The cost is cheaper, the adorable mixes are healthier and live longer, and you will have a dog like no other. The dogs from stores come from puppymills and are treated terribly where the mother is forced to breed until she cant have any more litters and then euthanized. because of these poor conditions, most of these dogs will have health and/or lasting mental disorders. You can still find a purebreds that need your help, but just help!

We have (8) dogs of 5 different breeds.
2 - Border Collies
2 - French Mastiffs
2 - Pugs
1 - Bloodhound
1 - English Bulldog

I would say we (or "I") like the jowly breeds, or the pushed up looking breeds.

I also like Akitas, Griffons, Kuvaz & Pekingese & Greyhounds are awesome animals. Thinking of adopting an ex-racer or two at some point....

Oh, & Bull Terriers

Standard Poodles - smart, easy to train, very energetic, beautiful, good in agility, good therapy dogs, don't shed.
Cons: Require a lot of grooming which can become expensive if you can't do it yourself.

Depends, but one of my faves is certainly the schnauzer (and of the 3 sizes, I prefer the standard).
They are extremely intelligent, easy to train, eager to please, playful and protective of their families, but not overly so.

My husband and I are thinking of getting another dog, and we are seriously leaning toward another schnauzer or schnauzer mix.
