I have noticed my Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop is getting sluggish therefore I am going to reinstall my operating system but I do not know how. I would like to create a backup as I would like to keep my files and music I have. Is there a way this can be done?

Thanks in advance,
Shane

Vista is so large that it takes a couple minutes just for it to load.

If you are running wallpaper, screensavers, and multiple programs on the Start Menu, you are compounding the problem.

You should have at the very least 1gb RAM, and with games and music, you would probably need more. Then, you would have to carefully review the Start Menu and remove anything you don't use on a daily basis, along with the wallpaper and screensaver.

After this, you must run a Disk Cleanup and a Defrag at least every two weeks, and remove temporary internet files daily.

After you get in the habit of doing these things, you will find it doesn't take long at all.

You can copy anything you want to save to some sort of external storage, then format, and uninstall and reinstall Vista, but I can tell you this is the last thing I would want to do. Your choice.

I wouldn't reinstall Vista because it is getting slow, If you Google "ways to speed up vista" you will get tons of ways to speed it up.
