Question

Is it true that I shouldn't put a mirror in my male cockatiel's cage because they get aggresive?

I have little circled mirrors that hang from his cage.

Some cockatiels can become mirror obsessed where they want to spend all there time with the "bird" in the mirror instead of interacting with you. They may also see it as their mate and try to defend it from you. Some also become mirror aggressive trying to attack the "bird" in the mirror seeing it as an intruder. If you bird don't seem to have a problem with mirror then it is fine to let him have it. My male cockatiel had one for years with not problems.

I have both a male and a female cockatiel in separate cages. Their mirrors are attached to the side of the cage. He usually plays with it becuase it moves and she sits on hers.

My male cockatiel hates a mirror. He loves to watch the birds on Youtube though.

i admire all forms of cockatiels. I own the conventional gray ones, albino ones and pied one and a few pied yellow chop up ones. they're all stunning of their own way. I own 12 cockatiels and characteristic perfect now 10 eggs and 3 toddlers.

This will vary from bird to bird. You should let him see a mirror. Depending upon his reaction, keep it or take it out. My cockatoo chewed the parts off of the mirror, but he loves the tall mirrors and bathroom mirrors throughout our home.

Yes they become bonded to the image and don't want you anymore and become aggressive to protect the image.

i have mirror closet doors....but my male seemed to like it he would sing to himself at night....
