I know how to get the three columns, but when I do it, it will have it so it skips to the next column in the middle of the page. How do I get it so it skips to the next column at the end of the page?

Could you take some screenshots (shift+print screen) and post a link to them here? You're not really clear...

I'm guessing that you mean that when you convert it to 3 columns, the text in the last column jumps to the next page. If you want to avoid this, move the column dividers. Look at the ruler on the top, right below the shortcut keys, etc. When there are no columns, there's a white ruler in the middle with gray on both ends, symbolizing the margins. When you convert to columns, you'll notice small gray dividers appear in that white space. Click on the middle of them, where the 3*3 gray dots are, and drag them around. You'll get it eventually.

If you want my view, though, the column formatting is difficult especially for purposes like mine, although I really push them to their limit. What I do is reduce the margins to that of one of 3 columns, then copy and paste into unformatted text boxes the size of columns when I'm done writing the stuff.

At the top of file - column 1 line 1, click Format, Columns, 3.
Type what you want in col. 1.
If you want it to rollover to col. 2, just keep typing.
If you want it to roll to col 2 at any given point, click Insert, Break, Column.
The cursor jumps to the next column.

If you want to skip a column, just insert another column break.

Go here. Great website for columns.
