So many questions on YA ask "What vitamin should i take for..." and the answers are usually "they are a waste of time" or "just eat properly".
My question is: How do you people that think that, know that for fact? Because you have studied nutrition and done an indepth analysis on western cultural diets?? Because of what your doctor told you? Because of what you heard from a friend?? Or do you use the argument "If they were any good my doctor would tell me to take them."

Well usually in 8 years of medicine doctors get a grand total of 4 days nutrition training...IF THAT.

I'm curious, if you believe natural medicine is a farce, what convinced you of that?

I guess it's one thing to say "it's possible to get all your nutrient needs" versus "are you actually getting them" from your current diet, which is what my question was.
Fafalo, go to your GP and ask what you can do to rebuild the cartilage in your joints. Lets see how antiinflammatories stack up against glucosamine. You stupid ignorant man.

Yeah I studied nutrition. It's perfectly possible to get all one's required nutrients from eating a balanced diet i.e a regular selection from all the food groups. Vitamins are also more suited for people who have an inability to properly synthesise certain nutrients. Let's not forget the very real problems that an excess of vitamins can cause.

I don't believe natural medicine is a 'farce' - I believe it's hugely misunderstood. What form of medicine is completely free of 'unnatural' processes to make it into a useable form? At what point in the manufacturing process to you draw the line and announce that a drug is no longer natural? Most modern drugs have their roots in plants - when does something qualify as homeopathic and when does it not?

I presume you're in favour of supplements? Which ones and why? What are your thoughts on 'natural' medicine? And you should offer up YOUR credentials if you're going to demand the same from others.

I'd imagine they might be due to there being less calorie's being inputted into the system there is less fat being stored for energy later or in case of starvation. Also due to insuffiecient nutrients it can result into cases of marasmus and even kwashiorkor.
