Hi Everyone - I'm making white chocolate chip/macadamia nut cookies for Christmas. My question is - can I make the cookie dough (with nuts and chips included) and freeze it? I've never done this before so not sure how it works. Am I supposed to freeze it without the nuts/chips and add those later? or can I freeze them all at once? And last question - should I roll it and wrap it? or form them with cookie scoop and then freeze them in their ball-shape? Sorry for all the questions - totally clueless over here :) Thanks - Michele

You can absolutely freeze the dough with the nuts and chips. You can freeze it which ever way you like, but you may find it easier and more compact to roll it into a log and freeze it that way. Then you can slice your cookies and put them on your cookie sheet. You may need to add additional cooking time since your dough will be frozen, or you can wait until the slices are thawed then follow the recipe directions for cooking time.

I'm sure that freezing the dough and the nuts is okay (the best way to store nuts is to freeze them), and pretty sure that freezing the chocolate chips will turn out fine. I would think that it would be best to roll the dough into a log, wrap it, freeze it and then cut it when you're ready. If you shape them before freezing there is probably a higher chance of freezer burn.

You can definitely freeze the dough. My mom used to do it. I think you can freeze it with the nuts and chips as they sell frozen cookie dough that already has nuts and chips in it. You can wrap it in saran wrap or I think it would be better to form them in the cookie shape and freeze them as balls. This is how you buy them and they are frozen and in balls. Good luck!

Michelle

Form them into the balls, freeze on wax paper lined cookie sheets, then place into freezer bags. When ready to have fresh cookies, remove required amount from the bag, place on prepared cookie sheet and bake. You will need to let them bake a bit longer if they are frozen or you can let them come to room temperature before baking. An alternative is to shape the dough into a log, wrap well and freeze. When ready to bake cut into slices, place on pan and bake. These will be similar to the refrigerated cookies in the dairy case.

Michele.....the only way to find the answer to our questions is to ask them, so don't ever apologize for asking what you want to know....now, as for the freezing of the dough....I really don't know but I don't know why it wouldn't work as long as you put the dough in freezer air tight bags....again, don't know how it would hurt to put all the ingredients together....I don't think I would put them into their "cookie shape" ahead of time and then again why not.....layer them on wax paper and then slip the layers into the air tight freezer bags.......Hope this has helped and good luck with the cookies.......have a mighty Christmas!!!!!
