My cat has a weird "I caught something" meow as well. I think she's trying to show off. That's probably why they meow, but I think the pitch is altered because they're trying to meow through a full mouth!

I am not really sure why cats like hair bands, but be careful. My cat has swallowed and then later threw up 2 haribands. I am very careful now not to leave them out because I am afraid she may choke.

He wants a treat or praise. He hunted it down for you and wants you to know it. My cat does that all the time with dirty socks out of the hamper. She will carry them out to me in the living room meowing all the way like it is a mouse. One time she brought out my husbands dirty underwear when we had company. LOL!

He thinks he's done something special, just like the others mentioned and is claiming his prize. Hairbands can get stuck in the intestinal tract if swallowed and may lead to surgery at the vet's to get them out.
